Having a baby is one of the most exciting times in your life. Nothing is more rewarding than the privilege of caring for this new life and providing an environment in which both you and your child will thrive and develop. Choosing the pediatrician that can best care for your child is an important decision. At Denise Wolken MD Pediatrics, we share your joy and enthusiasm and look forward to the opportunity to partner with you on the exciting journey of raising a child.  Here are a few things to consider when choosing a medical home for your newborn:

Please read Are We a Good Fit For You? Excellent care happens when the physicans and office staff are aligned with your family priorities and philosophies regarding medical care (ie. vaccines, use of antibiotics, office hours, etc.)

Getting Acquainted
Please feel free to call our office if you have additional questions. Or, if you prefer, call today to schedule a prenatal, "get acquainted" meeting. These meetings are a great way to know your potential pediatrician and to get comfortable with our office. Prenatal visits are not required, and there is no charge for these visits.

Upon Arrival
If your plan is to deliver at Crouse Hospital, simply tell your obstetrician and the hospital staff that you have chosen Denise Wolken MD Pediatrics as your child's pediatrician. Our office will be notified of your baby's birth by the hospital staff and we care for your baby in the newborn nursery.  If your baby is born at St. Joseph's Hospital or one of the other surrounding hospitals, the hospitalist pediatrician/neonatologist will care for your child in the newborn nursery of the hospital of your choice.  Upon discharge, please contact our office and schedule your baby's first visit to our office. We ask that you schedule a newborn visit with our office 2-3 days after discharge from the hospital.

Health Insurance
Check to see that Denise Wolken MD is a participating provider under your insurance.  Please contact our office or reference our list of insurances if you have questions about your insurance plan.  Please remember to bring your insurance card to your first visit.

Important note for parents: It is your responsibilty to add your newborn to your health insurance policy once your baby is born.  Most insurance plans have a 30 day grace period for newborns to be added.  Once the grace period has expired, if the baby has not been added within the appropriate time, the parent will be responsible for charges incurred.
