Congratulations!

Having a baby is one of the most exciting times in your life.  Choosing the pediatrician that can best care for your child is an important decision. At Denise Wolken MD Pediatrics, we share your joy and enthusiasm and look forward to the opportunity to partner with you on the exciting journey of raising a child. Here are a few things to consider when choosing a medical home for your newborn:

Please read Are We a Good Fit For You? Excellent care happens when the physicians and office staff are aligned with your family priorities and philosophies regarding medical care (ie. vaccines, use of antibiotics, office hours, etc.)

Getting Acquainted Meeting
Call today to schedule a prenatal, "get acquainted" meeting. Prenatal visits can be done by telemedicine from the comfort of your home! These meetings are a great way to get to know your potential pediatrician and to get comfortable with our office and ask questions. Prenatal visits are not required, and there is no charge for these visits.

If you would like your baby to be seen at Denise Wolken MD Pediatrics but  you choose not to meet Dr. Wolken prior to the birth, please call our office 315-991-4180 and register with our practice prior to your new baby's arrival.

Health Insurance
Check our insurance information page to see that Denise Wolken MD is a participating provider or  call our office if you have questions about your insurance plan. Please remember to bring your insurance card to your first visit.

Upon Arrival of the New Baby
If your plan is to deliver at Crouse Hospital, simply tell your obstetrician and the hospital staff that you have chosen Denise Wolken MD Pediatrics as your child's pediatrician. Our office will be notified of your baby's birth by the hospital staff and we will come to the hospital and see your baby in the newborn nursery. If your baby is born at St. Joseph's Hospital or one of the other surrounding hospitals, the hospitalist pediatrician/neonatologist will care for your child in the newborn nursery of the hospital of your choice. Upon discharge, please contact our office and schedule your baby's first visit to our office. We ask that you schedule a newborn visit with our office 2-3 days after discharge from the hospital.

Important note for parents: It is your responsibility to add your newborn to your health insurance policy once your baby is born. Most insurance plans have a 30 day grace period for newborns to be added. Once the grace period has expired, if the baby has not been added within the appropriate time, the parent will be responsible for charges incurred.
